BRETT STEVENS RACING TO SIT OUT GOLDENSTATES
The Queensland based Brett Stevens Racing team will not be entering the 2008
Goldenstates Drag Racing Championships at the Perth Motorplex from the
14th-15th November.
A decision has been made by team principle Brett 'The Boss' Stevens to sit
out all of his four Top Doorslammers and four Top Bikes from the event, a
move that has been brought about by a number of compounding factors one of
which is the current economic climate.
"It is with regret that I have had to make the decision to not take my race
teams to the Goldenstates in Perth, and hope that the fans and sponsors
understand the reasons I feel it necessary to do so," Stevens said.
"Firstly, due to the current economic climate the team's racing costs have
increased by up to 40% over the last month which has put un-forecasted
pressure on our racing budgets."
"By sitting out the Goldenstates we would be able to free up our resources
for the remainder of the 2008/2009 ANDRA Championship Drag Racing season
which I feel is in the best long term interest for the team and our
partners."
"Secondly, as one of the largest individual stakeholders in the sport of
Drag Racing in Australia that represents the needs of numerous sponsors and
personnel, I have the responsibility of my employees and their family's
welfare to consider and to ensure BSR gets through these troubled economic
times without too many changes."
"I realize that this current situation is far from ideal for any parties,
however I feel that this is best possible option for all involved, which
will lead to an even bigger and brighter future for Brett Stevens Racing."
