NATIONAL DRAG RACING STAR IN NORTH QUEENSLAND
North Queensland is bracing itself for one of its largest annual motoring event with thousands of spectators expected to converge on the Cairns Showground for the CARSGuide Auto Spectacular to be held from October 27-28.
Headlining the event is Drag Racing Champion Brett ‘The Boss’ Stevens, who is really looking forward to putting his busy Australian Championship season on hold to lay the rubber down performing his precision driving exhibitions right across the weekend in his Jack Daniel’s Racing Burnout Ute.
The tyre frying show, for which the Brisbane based professional Drag Racer is as famous for as his Drag Racing, is sure to excite the crowds as he shows exactly what having 2500 horsepower on tap can do.
“The Cairns Auto Spectacular is a great opportunity for me to bring a piece of Group One Australian Drag Racing up to Far North Queensland and also give me the opportunity to get out and about and meet people from different parts of Australia that we wouldn’t normally get to,” Stevens said.
“This is one of the things I enjoy about being involved in the sport and is especially the case when I come up to Cairns where I always receive a warm welcome and really enjoy my trip.”
“I can’t wait to get out there and annihilate a couple of sets of tyres for the fans, I’ll be doing my best to put on a big show for the crowd.”
As well as his Jack Daniel’s Racing Burnout Ute, Stevens will also have two transporters full of his professional race vehicles on display for the crowds including his teams 3500 horsepower Kitten Car Care Products Funny, both a Jack Daniel’s Racing and SP Racing Ford Falcon Top Doorslammer, a Jack Daniel’s Racing Nitro Harley Top Bike and the S&S Powered Buell Pro Stock Bike.
Stevens is one of Australia’s leading Drag Racers and is the only person in the world to compete in three professional Group 1 Drag Racing brackets simultaneously (Top Doorslammer, Top Bike and Top Alcohol).
Some of his recent Drag Racing accomplishments include winning the 2004 Australian Top Doorslammer and the 2005 Australian Top Bike Championships, member of the Australian Motorcycle Hall of Fame, holder of the quickest Australian Harley record with quarter mile run of 6.4 seconds, as well as various other records and titles.
The CARSGuide Cairns Auto Spectacular is the largest automotive shows in Cairns and as well as featuring Stevens driving exhibitions and Drag Racing displays, will also include motorcycle stunt riders, live music, tattoo competition and ‘show and shine’ for more than 40 categories of vehicle displays for both cars and motorbikes.
