BACKGROUND AND RACING ACCOMPLISHMENTS
A mechanic and engine builder by trade, Packman is no stranger to the driver’s seat in Drag Racing cutting his teeth in the highly competitive Super Stock bracket for 4 years before specializing in high performance engine building. He arrived at the Brett Stevens Racing team in 2000 where he has headed up the engine development program ever since and is also the Team Crew Chief for the cars.
With his past driving experience coupled with his intricate knowledge of the 3000 horsepower supercharged sedans, team boss Brett Stevens decided this made him an ideal person to drive the teams new Top Doorslammer.
On the 9th June 2006, Packman debuted in the Doorslammer bracket for the Brett Stevens Racing team at the largest Drag Racing event outside North America, WiIllowbank Raceways Winternationals.
On the 3rd of March 2007 at the Perth Motorplex, Packman successfully qualified in 6th position in the quickest Top Doorslammer field in history. He then went on to eliminate Victor Bray in the quarter finals before going down to team boss Brett Stevens in the semi final.
Packman finished his debut year (2006/2007) in the Top Doorslammer ranks as the leading rookie and inside the Top 10 of the Australian Top Doorslammer Championship.
